Faith Trek:

Faith Trek is the new name for the Sunday School program for Grades 1-5. Faith Trek is a new church school concept referred to as Workshop Rotation. Regardless of its name, it is an exciting way of helping children explore Bible stories. With an accompanying Shepherd, the children will experience a different workshop each week for a three or four week period. The children will learn the same story using a different approach each week of the rotation. In September the children will explore "Calling the Twelve Apostles" with Art, Music, Computers, Cooking and Games. Different learning styles are utilized so children have multiple opportunities to understand the message. We are looking forward to an exciting journey as we explore Bible stores with this year's theme, Listening to God's Call.

CHILDREN’S CHAPEL

Children's Chapel is for children four years old through 2nd grade. It is held during the 9AM service. The children have their own service, which correlates with the adult service. The children join their parents in "Big" church for Eucharist. We are looking for adult and youth volunteers to serve as leaders. If you are interested in helping out, please call Mar-Mary Lutge 379-7762 or Rev. Kate.

WE LOVE YOUR CHILDREN IN SUNDAY SCHOOL!

The more kids there are in Sunday School the merrier, unless those kids arrive prior to 10:05. Please do not send your children to their Sunday School classrooms or allow them to roam the building unattended before the Christian Education hour begins at 10:05. A large number of the teachers are either singing the final hymn of the 9AM service or are busily setting up materials for the class and cannot adequately supervise your children. This is simply a safety issue of which we need to be mindful.

Thank you!

This is a 6 year Church School program, divided into 3 two-year components, for children aged 11 to 17, which incorporates a Youth Fellowship program. The teachers commit to teaching Church School and sponsoring youth group activities with the same children for 2 years at a time.  Each group plans a pilgrimage following confirmation.

Youth Activities

REACH (Redeemer Activities for Children)

REACH is a social group for Redeemer children from the pre-kindergarten level through 5th grade. We have activities throughout the school year that include an Advent Workshop and a Lenten Workshop along with many fun-filled outings. In addition, we sponsor the Christmas Pageant and Happy Birthday Jesus party.

This year we will provide service to our church and community in conjunction with our activities. We had a Back to School Outing in August where we provided school supplies for children in the area that are less fortunate and then went to the YMCA to eat lunch and swim in the pool. A good time was had by all and this was a good opportunity for everyone to get caught up after the summer break. We are also going to encourage all our children to participate in the Thanksgiving Bag of Food, sponsor a family for Christmas, through Chesterfield Christmas Mother, and provide lunch and dinner for our CARITAS guests when they arrive in February.

Mark your calendar with our 2005-2006 REACH activities:

Bowling Party (Thanksgiving Bags of Food) - Oct. 16 at 12:30PM

Adopt a family through Chesterfield Christmas Mother – Nov./Dec.

Advent Workshop – Dec. 4, 1:30 – 3:30

Christmas Pageant – tentatively scheduled for Dec. 15 at 7PM

Peak Experiences – Jan. 22

CARITAS dinner – Feb. 5

Lenten Workshop – March 19, 1:30 – 3:30

Richmond Kicker’s Game – April/May

We will need lots of help again this year with REACH. Stop by our table on Ministry Sunday, Sept. 11, and sign up to help. We will be using e-mail to do most of our communicating this year.

Please e-mail Mar-Mary (mmlutge@mindspring.com) with your e-mail address so your children can stay in touch with REACH.

 Adult Topics 2005-2006

For everything there is a season,

and a time for every matter under heaven:

a time to be born, and a time to die;

a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;

a time to kill, and a time to heal;

a time to break down, and a time to build up;

a time to weep, and a time to laugh;

a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

a time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;

a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

a time to seek, and a time to lose;

a time to keep, and a time to throw away;

a time to tear, and a time to sew;

a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

a time to love, and a time to hate;

a time for war, and a time for peace.

  Episcopal Church of the Redeemer’s Adult Topics classes takes place Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. in the Parish Hall beginning September 18th through May 21st, 2006. Adult Topics combines lecture, small group discussion, and hands on experience to engage adults in lively discussions about the Christian faith.

This year’s Adult Topics series, “For Everything there is a Season,” highlights Old Testament and Apocryphal Wisdom literature. Wisdom literature includes both biblical books that are well-known and obscure: Ecclesiastes, Proverbs, Job, the Wisdom of Solomon, and Ecclesiasticus.  It addresses the challenges and joys of everyday life, and reflects the lives of generations who have lived life and lived it fully.

Wisdom literature contains both the sage words of those who have known both the heights of joy and the abyss of sorrow. It gives practical suggestions about how to live everyday lives of faith and compassion. For everything there is a season (Ecc 3:1-8) and each of these seasons of life will be explored through the lens of concrete experiences. This year’s Adult Topics will focus on how an everyday faith intersects with scripture, the sacraments, family relationships, diverse faith communities, contemporary issues of violence, the arts, the workplace, and the voices of our youth.
